We are officially two months into the academic year! Now that the interns have settled in, we asked Jordan Lawson (Class of 2022) to give us the lay of the land. Here are Jordan's recs for GVL newbies!
Just have a day?
Start your morning at Swamp Rabbit café and grocery with stecca bread (delicious vegan bread made in house)breakfast sandwich and a coffee or smoothie. Hop on the swamp rabbit trail either on foot or bike. Take the path toward downtown and end up at the Liberty suspension bridge overlooking the Reedy River Falls. Then set off to explore downtown on foot!
Once in Downtown...
Main Street Greenville is just 10 minutes from the hospital! Here are a few of my favorite destinations so far:
Up On The Roof- best drinks with a view!

Fluor Field- Root for the Greenville Drive – our local baseball team! Did you know? The Greenville Drive is a Class A Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. In fact, Fluor Field is a small scale replica of Fenway Park - complete with our own "Green Monster." Each July, the residency program kicks off Orientation Month with a Night at the Drive where we take over the 500 Club seating area for a BBQ during the game for residents, faculty and families.

Chocolate Moose Bakery- hidden inside the M. Judson bookstore, this bakery features amazing cupcakes, coffee and cookies.
Downtown Alive- Each Thursday and Friday night March to August, the upper part of Main Street shuts down by NoMa square for live music and food trucks and craft beers. Bring your folding chairs because this event gets packed!
Farmer’s Market- every Saturday from 8a-12 noon during May-October, local vendors and farmers take over Main Street from Court Ave to Washington. Come early to snag a rocking chair at the corner of McBee and Main for prime people watching. Pro Tip: pick up a cold-pressed beverage from Kuka Juice and a crepe from French Bistro Passarelle's cart before you take your seat.
Liberty Bridge- picturesque suspension bridge with great views. Prime GVL selfie location.
Spill the Beans- Espresso milkshake. Need I say more?
