Mary Wurzelmann, MD

I grew up in Chapel Hill, went to UNC for college, and am a lifelong UNC basketball fan (Go Heels!). In the five years between finishing my undergraduate degree and starting medical school at UNC, I worked in neurobiology labs in NYC and NC, bicycled across the United States, went to graduate school in VA where I researched neurogenesis after traumatic brain injury, and worked in a homeless youth clinic in Seattle

FAST FACTS

Hometown: Chapel Hill, North Carolina

Why Prisma EM: All of the faculty and residents I met during my virtual interviews and social/info events were so down-to-earth, and all of the residents spoke highly of the very supportive environment in which to learn and train. I also liked the idea of training with faculty who had trained all over the country and could offer multiple perspectives to practicing emergency medicine.

What do you enjoy on your free time? In my free time I enjoy hiking, biking, spending time outdoors, reading, sewing, and spending time with my nieces and nephew.

Favorite Movie: Cutting for Stone

Interesting Fact: I have been to 49 of the 50 states
